MATERNITY CENTER

TECTONIC
Located in rural southern Senegal, the proposed maternity center is designed to provide essential care to local women and newborns. The center integrates functionality with privacy, hygiene, and a connection to nature. The layout separates public and private spaces, with a formal eastern entrance and a private western side overlooking a backyard. A central corridor links functional areas, flanked by courtyards that enhance privacy and natural integration. Features include solid walls, louver windows for ventilation and privacy, and an innovative roof design that manages light, airflow, and rainwater. A central roof opening highlights a native tree, merging nature with the structure. This maternity center's thoughtful design ensures efficient operation and supports the community's long-term health.
