The other “Primitive Hut”
Structure design
Installation
Material
The project completed at UC Berkeley, where we explored the architectural concept of the "Primitive Hut." This installation involved a creative and sustainable approach by using abandoned wood sticks as the primary material. By employing traditional lashing techniques, we assembled these sticks into a full-scale, 1:1 mock-up. This project not only allowed us to reinterpret a fundamental architectural idea but also to engage directly with hands-on construction methods, blending historical techniques with modern design principles. The installation serves as a reflection on simplicity and sustainability in architecture, echoing the essence of the 'Primitive Hut' as a return to the basics of shelter and construction.
